Introduction

Artists and visionaries have always found endless inspiration in the natural world, drawing from its intricate patterns, breathtaking landscapes, and delicate ecosystems. There is a profound allure in nature’s ability to stir our emotions, remind us of the interdependence of all living creatures, and, in doing so, urge us to protect our shared environment.

Today, we are witnessing a global awakening as sustainability takes a central role in our collective consciousness. The urgency to address climate change, protect biodiversity, and adopt eco-friendly practices has never been more evident. Artists and designers, with their unique power to influence societal values, have an unparalleled opportunity to create work that not only inspires but also fosters a deeper connection with the natural world.

The Creative Intersection & Heritage

The intersection of art, design, and sustainability serves as a catalyst for showcasing the profound influence of nature on the creative process. Through a new focus on the preservation of cultural heritage, we explore the boundless possibilities for sustainable art. By looking at the past through archives and cultural memory, we find the blueprints for a more regenerative and resilient future.

Event Announcement

After the tremendous success of our first edition, IEREK is proud to announce the second edition of the Sustainable Creative Art: Inspiration from Nature (SCIN) conference. In collaboration with Istituto Marangoni Milano, we have selected Milan—a city celebrated for its creativity—as our host.

Innovative Strategies & Sustainable Systems

IEREK invites designers, architects, artists, and scholars to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation. We will explore how creative sectors embrace sustainability through several key lenses:

  • Fashion & Archival Intelligence: Utilizing historical data to transform modern fashion systems and integrate nature-inspired elements.

  • Architecture & Environment: Creating structures that blend seamlessly with their surroundings while minimizing ecological footprints.

  • Interior Design & Well-being: Showcasing how spaces can be enriched with natural elements to promote human health and comfort.

  • Digital Curation & AI: Balancing aesthetics with sustainability in fields like graphics, urban planning, and artificial intelligence.

  • Visual Arts: Using photography, painting, and murals to immortalize nature’s beauty and invigorate urban environments.

Join Our Global Network

The SCIN conference promises to be an enriching experience, uniting academics and industry professionals to celebrate nature’s influence on the creative process. By fostering diverse voices, we aim to establish a global network dedicated to exploring the potential of sustainable art.

Together, we can confront the challenges and seize the opportunities presented at the intersection of art, sustainability, and nature.
